Bangalore Vijayawada Expressway infrastructure

Initially to be developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-II in 2023, work on the Bangalore- Vijayawada Expressway will now start soon. The project was granted to Andhra Pradesh, after chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy pointed to union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari that after its bifurcation, the centre had not announced any mega project for the state.

Of the development of 570 kms of the expressway, around 360 kms is proposed to be designed as a four-lane highway that will enable in saving a lot of time that is generally taken to commute between the two cities. Owing to this, the travel time between the two destinations, Bangalore in Karnataka and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, will reduce by close to three hours. The remaining 110 kms will be focused on connecting the Bangalore-Vijayawada Expressway with the existing national highways.

Vijayawada Bangalore Expressway investment

The Bangalore-Vijayawada Expressway will see an investment of close to Rs 10,000 crores. A detailed report on the Bangalore-Vijayawada Expressway project is being worked on by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Meanwhile, the state government has already approved the proposed route map between the two cities, after detailed study of different routes that could improve the connectivity between Bangalore and Vijayawada.

Bengaluru Vijayawada Expressway further connectivity

There are plans that the proposed Bangalore-Vijayawada Expressway may further be connected to other national highways for easy movement. For example, it may be connected to the Chennai-Kolkata NH-65 that will aid in providing easy connectivity of the coastal districts from Srikakulam to Nellore with Bengaluru.
